What You Can Expect from a Parent Coach

Parent coaching? If you are like most of my clients, you never thought you would need a parent coach. You may not even have known that parent coaches existed.
My goal is to help you become a happier, more successful parent and spouse. By working together for a time, we can discover the issues that are negatively impacting your life (work? family? community?) and help you find new ways to resolve them.
As a parent coach, my job is to make your job as a parent easier. You’ll learn techniques that can help you discover and consistently employ a parenting style that is comfortable for you, and that meets the individual needs of your children.
You will learn to view your time commitments differently and to guide your children from a different perspective. Instead of getting c aught up in the day-to-day, you’ll find yourself with plans and goals that stretch months and years into the future. This, I believe, is the first step towards a more successful family life.
Below are some of the questions I most frequently hear from new clients. If you have a question that is not answered here, feel free to send me your question. I am also happy to provide a free 30-minute consultation to help you become more comfortable with the coaching process.

Life coaches know that their clients are whole, creative and resourceful people. As a result, the process of coaching is completely client-driven. The client decides what areas of life he or she wants to work on improving. These could include spirituality, personal relationships, career aspirations, health and financial well-being, and long-term goals and dreams.
As a coach, I help clients look at how to better organize and manage their daily lives, and then focus on bringing the best they have to offer to loved ones. I help clients free up time, energy, and money, so they and their families can live richer, more meaningful lives.

How does Life Coaching differ from Counseling?
Counseling addresses past issues, including emotional and cognitive disorders. Life coaching focuses on what one does today and in the future. Coaching is an incredibly powerful process that encompasses goal-setting, action plans, and accountability.
My clients are busy people who have a lot going on in their lives. They may be married or single, working or stay-at-home parents, but they usually feel stress from too little time and too many obligations.

Why do people hire you?
My clients hire me because that want to make improvement in their lives. They want to work on their parenting skills, learn to communicate more positively with their kids, better balance their many important life roles, or just make more time for fun and relaxation.

Who can benefit from coaching?
People who want to lower stress, build stronger personal relationships, improve parenting skills, plan and implement a major life transition, and improve their overall sense of well-being would all benefit from coaching.

Do both parents need to participate for coaching to be of benefit to a family?
While it is helpful to coach all persons in the family involved in raising the children, many of my clients work individually with me. They find that they can still bring about positive change in their family.

How to I keep my information private in the group coaching setting?
When we form the group, we'll agree on some group guidelines and respect that we each share what we are comfortable sharing. As you get to know your fellow group members and discover how much you have in common, you'll come to trust, support, and enjoy each other more.
